Description

A masterful marriage of fine steel with natural materials! Perfectly functional and collectible, the popular Kershaw Leek Knife is accented with true fossilized mammoth tooth (tusk), accented with inlaid stripes of black jet gemstone. The handsome material is the true unearthed tusk of a 15,000-year-old wooly mammoth. The limited-edition handle is painstakingly shaped, ground, polished, and assembled by artisans in Santa Fe, New Mexico and applied to the factory-new knife. Sleek, stylishly sharp, and practical! Closed, the knife is 4″ long, the perfect scale to fit the hand, while being sized small enough for everyday carrying. The 3″ straight-edge blade is fashioned of sharp Sandvik 13C26 stainless steel for excellent edge retention and extreme resistance to corrosion. The reverse side includes a stainless steel clip that easily attaches to outer pockets or can be used as a money clip. The pocket clip may also be removed or reversed (giving the option of carrying with tip up or tip down) with the use of a small hex key or Allen wrench. Made in the USA.The Leek series features Kershaw’s SpeedSafe assisted opening system for smooth, easy opening by both right and left-handed users. It is specifically designed for sporting and work situations where one-handed opening is preferable and safer, but allows for ease of use in all everyday tasks. Simply apply pressure to the finger stud for a smooth, easy blade extension. A frame lock ensures the blade is held stable upon deployment and a sliding safety lock ensures the un-deployed blade stays securely inside the handle until the user manually releases it. The wooly mammoth stood about 12 feet tall and weight from 11,000 to 15,000 pounds with tusks that could grow to over 13 feet long. This limited-edition knife contains a section of stabilized, fossilized mammoth tusk originating from Siberia. It will typically have a brown color and different variations in the pattern can be viewed in the images above. The specimen is neither extremely valuable or unique, nor is its’ use considered a loss to the scientific community. This mammoth tusk is offered as a tangible reminder of the mysterious creatures that ruled the world during the last Ice Age. Wooly Mammoth ivory is legal to own. However, shipments of fossilized ivory tusk or teeth to the states of New York and New Jersey are currently not allowed
